1967
Laying of the foundation stone of the company
Christoph von Guttenberg responds to a newspaper job advertisement by the company Rheinstahl. This marks the beginning of his position as a commercial agency for insulation materials for EGI in Neubaldham — and the beginning of the Von Guttenberg success story.
1968
Opening of the first location in Feldmoching
The first location is a farm. Jörg von Guttenberg, at the time still a school student helping out in his father’s business, remembers that “real manual work was still done here.” There were no forklifts, and the goods were carried into the barn by hand.
1981
Relocation from Feldmoching to new premises in Aschheim
A new hall with 1,200 sqm of space. A dry construction division is added to the existing technical insulation. The initial workforce of two or three employees has grown to almost ten.
1991
Opening of the location in Arnstadt/Thuringia
Demand for technical insulation products is growing in Thuringia’s industrial areas. Von Guttenberg responds to this demand by opening a new branch as the region’s first supply source.
1993
Relocation from Arnstadt to new premises in Thörey/Amt Wachsenburg
Only 3 km from the former site as the crow flies, the location has remained there ever since, directly at the motorway junction that provides rapid transport connections in all directions.
1994
Opening of the location in Leuna/Merseburg
High demand for technical insulation for process technology in the “chemical complex” around Leuna prompts the opening of the third location.
1998
Move in Aschheim to new premises in Uhlandstrasse
A new address, and the current headquarters. In addition, the storage area doubles and for the first time open storage space is added, partly roofed.
2011
Modification and expansion of the Aschheim location
The technical insulation division continues to expand, boosted by stronger demand.
2017
Construction and opening of the third hall in Aschheim
The first warehouse is digitized, with barcodes applied to all products and storage locations.
2019
Modification and expansion of the Thuringia location
Open areas are roofed and given a new modern look to make the Thuringia location all-weather.
2020
Showroom for doors and floors at the location in Thuringia
End consumers can view doors and be inspired by a wide range of parquet and laminate samples on more than 50 sqm of exhibition space at the location in Amt Wachsenburg.
2021
Direct link between customer and retailer
Another step on the way to digital transformation. Direct connection of customer portals to our system. Orders are automatically entered and then sent.
2022
Foundation of central purchasing department
One for all locations: The establishment of the central purchasing department improves the effectiveness and transparency of strategic and tactical procurement processes. At the same time, the administrative effort is reduced.

Introduction of digital transport management platform
The cloud-based platform enables full control over transport procurement and management. This makes collaboration with our partners and suppliers even easier.

Stronger together
Since 1 July 2023, Von Guttenberg and Spezial-Baustoffe have been joining forces and pooling their activities. Through the overarching exchange in the operational business areas, the merger enables an even more efficient and comprehensive service, which will significantly expand the market position within Germany in the future.
